Every summer, a song comes out which inevitably turns into the “song of the summer”. (E.g. “One Dance” by Drake in the summer of 2016 or “Blockbuster” from Season 15 of Coke Studios.) This year, Pal Pal by Afusic might arguably be the song of the summer. The song has a blend of afrobeats and hip-hop, sung in Urdu to create a melody that’s guaranteed to make your body move.
Afusic has been around for a few years. He was influenced into making and releasing music by his father and started his musical journey in 2016 making covers. Growing up, he had a passion for music, and even used his mom’s phone to play karaoke. As he got older, he lost interest in school and dropped out to work in order to support his family, while still making music. Once ‘4am in Karachi’ dropped, the lyrics inspired Afusic to quit his job and solely pursue his passion to music.
Since then, Afusic and his producer, AliSoomroMusic, dropped songs after songs. Besides their hit ‘Pal Pal’, what other songs should you be jamming out to?
Our Favorite Afusic Songs:
1. Wave
Why we like this track: Instantly, the drill beat hooks you in. Once the bass drops, you’ll find yourself bopping your head up and down. The song contains a dynamic blend of Urdu and English lyrics. As the song goes on, his raps get heavier and heavier, bar after bar.
2. Out Of Your Mind
Why we like this track: This song isn’t just a catchy tune; it’s a raw, emotional journey. He sings “Mohabbat se ghafil tujhe nahi pata” (You don’t know what love is) but then continues on with “Likh dun jo tujh pe kuch toh kagaz bhi gulshan ki tarha” (If I write something about you, even the paper will bloom like a garden).
3. Callin
Why we like this track: The flow of the song sounds very similar to a song that Zack Knight would put out. From the production of the song, to the flow of his singing, you can feel the emotional connection in his words.
4. Vision
Why we like this track: Afusic shows his multi-dimensional talents. This rap beat starts off with heavy 808’s so you know you’re going to expect some heat. The song is a bold declaration of self-made success and unwavering determination. He contrasts his own hard work and “vision” against those who lack foresight, emphasizing that his “pen is a money maker” and his efforts are what truly speak.
5. Hearts on Fire
Why we like this track: Afusic switches it up here. The beat instantly gives happy and positive vibes. The track itself is an open declaration of profound love and newfound happiness. Shifting from a state of “Pathar dil may tha gumshuda, kho gaya tha may lapata” (lost with a stone in his heart) to finally “Tum jo milgaye toh jeene laga” (started living after I met you), the song is a sweet, intense expression of devotion and love.
2025 was a big year for Afusic with his hit ‘Pal Pal’. His unique style is able to capture you into his melodic beats and feel an emotional tie to his lyrics. We’re looking forward to seeing what he has in store. After creating a song version with Talwiinder, could we see more collaborations with South Asian artists?
